In Loving Memory OfChristine M. Beekley-SchmidtChristine M. Beekley-Schmidt was born on April 5, 1951, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Jack & Dorothy (Fridrich) Beekley and passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 57 years, 2 months and 19 days. As a young girl, Christine attended Fairview Country School District #25 in Seward County and graduated from Dorchester Public School with the class of 1969. Christine furthered her education by attending the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Capitol Beauty School of Omaha and North American Travel School, also of Omaha. Christine was owner and operator of the "Hair Capitol of Omaha" from 1980 to 1990. She also worked as a travel agent for Celebrate Travel and was account executive for Corporate and Leisure Travel, all of Omaha. She later worked with Better Business Bureau and Gallup Corporation in Lincoln for several years. Christine was co-owner of a hot dog cart called "Weiner Envy". She was past-president of West Omaha Business Executives, past-treasurer, past-sergeant of arms and past-chairman for Fellowship for the Northwest Rotary Club. She also was a member of the Lancer's Club of the Omaha Royals Baseball Team. Christine had a bright sense of humor and had a fantastic smile. She was a great lover of animals and enjoyed growing flowers and working in her garden. Christine was a passionate and loving human being who treasured family, friends and her four-legged companions above all else. Family members include her parents, Jack & Dorothy Beekley, Dorchester, sisters, Connie LeMonde, West Lake Village, CA, identical twin, Catherine Beekley, rural Dorchester, Marcia Beekley, also of Dorchester, brothers, Kirk Beekley, rural Crete, Mark Beekley, Crete, eight nieces and nephews, Maj. Spencer Hansen, and his wife, Maria, Lincoln, Capt. Brooks Riley, and his wife, Kate, Justyn Riley, Lincoln, Brandy VanDerwalle and her husband Kurt, Ohiowa, Halley Beekley, Denver, CO, Jennifer Determan and her husband, William, Cedar Falls, IA, Jackie Rittscher, Lincoln, Suzy Kaplan, Providence, RI, great nieces and nephews, Madison Riley, Blake, Brett and Westley Determan, Raine Rittscher, and a host of other relatives and friends. Christine was preceded in death by her grandparents. Memorial Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Dorchester with Rev. Paixao Baptista and Life Celebrant Bonnie Pratt officiating. Interment, Dorchester Cemetery. Food and fellowship reception following the graveside back at the church. Cremation, no visitation. Also, a previously scheduled Spaghetti Benefit for Christine will be held Sunday, June 29, from 11:30 to 2:00 at the church. Memorials have been established to the family .
