In Loving Memory Of Donald E. Eberspacher
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Beth-El Mennonite Church with Pastor Zach Schlegel officiating. Family Interment prior to service at Salem cemetery at 9:30 a.m. Visitation is on Tuesday, 11am – 5 pm at Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford, with family receiving relatives and friends 6-8 pm at Beth-El Mennonite Church. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Zach Schlegel, Luke Oswald, Rajeev Anchan, Eric Eberspacher, Justin and Jeffrey Moline. Memorials have been established to The Gideons.
Donald Edwin Eberspacher was born August 11, 1927 in Seward, Nebraska to Elmer and Esther (Vogt) Eberspacher and passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln of surgical complications at the age of 85 years 2 months and 23 days. He attended Glendale District 49 country school and graduated from Milford High School in 1945. As a young man “Don” enjoyed sports and his interest in farm animals increased. He was involved in multiple 4-H projects as well as being a 4-H leader for many years. Don was part of the state 4-H livestock judging team which represented Nebraska at the International Livestock Exposition. He was also state 4-H colt champion and received a trip to the 4-H Club Congress in Chicago.
On January 20th, 1949, Don was married to his high school sweetheart, Lois Matzke and to this union five children were born: Cathy, Sandra, Diane, Kim and Lori. Together, Don and Lois farmed in the Salem community northwest of Milford and later moved east of Milford where they raised their family. Don’s membership in 4-H in high school and his love of farm animals carried forward into adult life as a farmer.
Don and Lois were active members of the Salem United Methodist Church. Lois being a most honorable mother and wife, passed away in June 1965. On August 1, 1969, Don was blessed with a second marriage to Leola “Lee” Dahlgren. After residing on the family farm for 12 years, Don and Leola moved to Milford with semi-retirement in mind. They currently attended Rosemont Missionary Alliance Church in Lincoln. Traveling to different parts of the world at this time was most enlightening. Home bible studies during these years were life changing. Don was a loving, family orientated, hard working husband, father and grandfather.
Don is survived by his wife, Leola, Milford, children and spouses, Cathy and Fred Schlegel, Lincoln, Sandra and Jon Oswald, Lincoln, Diane and Ivan Anchan, Omaha, Kim and Sheila Eberspacher, Milford, Lori and Mark Moline, St. Paul, MN, 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean and Marilyn Eberspacher, Darrel and Carol Eberspacher, all of Milford, brother-in-law, Jim Eberspacher, Milford, nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lois in 1965, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harlow and Mildred Matzke, Ellen and Frank Runty, Reva Eberspacher, Elaine and Robert Turnquist.
